The Kennedy Memorial Foundation is inspired by the legacy of His Excellency the late President John F. Kennedy of the United States, who strongly believed that education is the foundation of human empowerment. In the 1960s, his support to education in Tanzania—through school feeding programs in primary and middle schools—helped increase school attendance, improve concentration in class, and ultimately enhance academic performance.

In honor of his commitment to education, our organization carries the name “Kennedy” as a tribute to his belief that education transforms lives and builds stronger nations.

The Kennedy Memorial Foundation recognizes that in today’s world, technical skills represent a second level of empowerment—especially in an era driven by science and technology. Technical education is essential for national development and sustainable growth.

In Tanzania, there is a significant shortage of skilled experts in critical technical fields such as biomedical engineering in the health sector, motor vehicle engineering in transport and agriculture, and computer and communication engineering that supports modern technologies such as telemedicine.

It is against this background that the Kennedy Memorial Foundation was established to support technical education institutions, strengthen capacity building, and contribute to the development of skilled professionals who will ensure reliable services across key sectors of the economy.
